Visit Robin Hood’s Bay

Why Robin Hood’s Bay?

Robin Hood’s Bay is a picturesque fishing village that lies in the Ancient Parish of Fylingdales, between Whitby and Scarborough.

Idyllic location for families especially those with pets; the dog-friendly beach is amazing for dogs who love to run, or those who prefer a more leisurely stroll! The rock pools are perfect for children to explore, and there are even fossils to be found.

Robin Hoods Bay is brimming with history and folklore, with the first recorded reference to the location being between 1322 and 1346. There is plenty to see around Robin Hoods Bay that indicates its past. From the cobbled streets and alleyways to the old, tightly packed cottages. A ghost walk runs a few times a week during the holiday season and is an excellent way to learn about some of the village’s fascinating history.

There is a huge amount of wildlife residing around Robin Hoods Bay, particularly in The North Sea. At Ravenscar there is a resident colony of seals which can be seen from a distance (it’s very important not to disturb them). There’s thousands of sea birds to be spotted and even a variety of whales, dolphins and sharks. A wander through the countryside could even include a run in with a native adder!

There’s plenty of places to grab a coffee or a bite to eat around Robin Hoods Bay. From quaint coffee shops to some luxurious spots for fish and chips.
